Season 3 announced for THE FINALS for June 13th

Posted 8th June 2024

The trailer for Season 3 of THE FINALS was revealed at the Summer Game Fest and while it was only a short 1-minute trailer it showed off a lot of what the next season has to offer. It kicks off by going back in time to 1568 Japan, showing off a bunch of new outfits and weapons, and a brand new map called Kyoto 1568, located in the Kyoto Valley in Japan.

Outfits

It looks like there will be new outfits based on the new season's feudal Japanese theme, as well as some new modern day ones too that will likely be gotten from the battlepass and events.

Weapons

Three new weapons have been added, one for each build as well as one new gadget for lights and a specialisation for heavies.

Recurve Bow

A new light build ranged weapon that shoots arrows in a curved arc. Its range and damage increases the longer you hold the trigger.

Thermal Bore

A new light build breaching gadget to breach walls and buildings like the breaching charge but focused on doing so from a longer distance.

Dual Katanas

A new medium build melee weapon with fast attack speed for combos and range with a special ability to deflect bullets from enemies like Genji from Overwatch.

Spear

A new heavy build melee weapon with a long range stab as the primary attack and a secondary attack which spins around, dealing damage around the player. It can be more flexible than the sledgehammer at the cost of less damage.

Winch Claw

A new heavy build specialisation that hooks enemies and carriables and pulls them towards the player. The trailer shows it for a split-second and looks like it functions the same as Roadhog's hook ability from Overwatch too.

Map

A new map has been added called Kyoto 1568, located in the Kyoto Valley in Japan. It's the first map to contrast the more modern maps so far in the game.

Kyoto

Other notable changes is the new ranked game mode is now Terminal Attack in an effort to have more of a focus on a "tactical and competitive experience". It's quite a difference in playstyle with there being no healing, no defibrillators and only one life.

Season 3 will launch on June 13th on Steam, NVIDIA GeForce Now, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
